I'm based in a consumer market insights team, known as CMI. I personally find this a very interesting & exciting role.
I'm responsible for carrying out the following in my day-to-day role:
- Using social listening tools to better understand our consumers
- Communicating with brand teams on a regular basis & providing them with insights and recommendations (to help inform potential innovation work)

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy being an apprentice at Unilever. I feel well supported and valued within my team. If I ever encounter any difficulties or challenges, my line manager is always on hand to offer advice and support. I also enjoy being able to see how the tasks I do on a daily basis can have an impact on the business and society, by affecting innovation work.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Within my first 6 months of being an apprentice at Unilever, I would say that I've grown massively as an individual. I have not only improved my existing skillset, but also built upon it. For example, having the opportunity to develop my public speaking skills through presenting to key stakeholders within the business.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel that the programme is very well structured. I have one set day each week which is dedicated to studying or any work I need to do for my qualification which I am working towards with Multiverse. I also was onboarded effectively into the team and provided with training in the ways of working.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am in a very supportive team. My manager is always on hand to offer support, guidance and advice. I have weekly meetings with my manager which I find very helpful. We use this time to discuss challenges I may be facing and how I can best be supported. I am also often asked about my wellbeing & how I am in general (outside of work) not just within the work environment.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As a level 3 apprentice, our training provider is currently Multiverse. At Multiverse, we are assigned dedicated coaches who are professionals who are highly experienced within the sector you are working within and are always on hand to support you professionally, offer feedback on your progress and answer any questions you may have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that the training sessions I complete with Multiverse really help me to perform better in my day to day role. I am able to use the learnings I take away from these sessions, applying them with immediate effect into my role. It gives you a chance to put into practice the things you are learning on your programme, which further enhances your understanding of key concepts & processes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At Unilever, there a whole host of exciting events to get involved with. The future careers team are amazing & there is even a dedicated community and wellbeing team internally, who arrange lots of exciting events, from fantasy football, to quizzes, to fun baking activities that you can try out e.g pizza making!

Why?
Unilever is an amazing company. Not only is it home to a portfolio of incredible brands that you get the opportunity to work with on a daily basis, but the community is what for me, really makes it special. Everyone is super supportive and friendly, and I've been made to feel very welcome into the team within the 6 months that I've been at Unilever.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Go for it! One of my top tips would be to do your research before applying. Really understand the ethos and values of the company, what their brands are, etc. Also, research the fantastic range of apprenticeship programmes on offer & choose one which relates to your interests, this way you'll be sure to pick something you really love.
