Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my daily role I speak to different people about what data they have from their products and how they would like to use it to improve. Then I make visualisations with their data so it can be viewed in an accessible way.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The team of people I work with are all really lovely, and the company itself takes care of its employees well. I really enjoy the programme and this is largely due to the people I have met.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

In terms of qualifications, I am working towards a degree in data science paid for by the company. In my role I have enhanced by excel skills, learnt how to use PowerBi, sharepoint and python. As well as improving presenting/communication skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I have a set study day once a week with University lectures. This is beneficial as it makes sure I have the correct balance of study and work. However, University isn't always the most organised. I did a lot of the work training with online courses.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have a mentor who gives me support a long with my line manager. They are very helpful with my development and when needed I can go to them for all kinds of support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

It is harder to get individual support from tutors due to the large number of people completing the same course. However, they are always helpful if you ask and individual meetings are set up a few times a year.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification training gives me ideas on ways I can improve working practices allowing my job tasks to become more efficient and at a higher standard. Although some of the degree course doesn't have any uses with my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am part of a community and well being team where we collaborate to organise activities on non-work related tasks. (e.g. talks with inspirational people, social events, challenges). This has helped me meet some great people and have activities to look forward to.

Why?
The company does a really good job making you feel welcome. There are also many different people with different experiences and from different countries who you can work with and talk to. Furthermore, Unilever ensure you have everything you need to complete your role the best you can and encourage working towards your personal/career goals.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Make sure you are prepared for the interviews by researching the role you are applying for and most importantly, the company. Try to make the most of the process by asking interviewers questions about their experiences so you know it is the right place for you. Interact with other candidates and do online practice tests.
