I also run a training platform called Bridge for our CD employees to use and learn from
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme at Unilever and this was defiantly the right route for me personally. The team and company culture is excellent, everyone is friendly and willing to help and give advice. The programme I am taking is slightly different to what I first expected, however provided relevant skills that will help me within my role and future ventures.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to manage data through my apprenticeship and manipulate it to make it easier to understand through the use of Power BI. I will gain a Level 3 Data Technician qualification at the end of my course which is 18 months long. I have developed many personal skills as well as professional these included: time management, project management, communication skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured. I was given a 2 day induction within the company when I first joined and given plenty of training modules to complete within my department and the company. This information I learnt was useful and great knowledge to gain when joining. Unilever give apprentices 1 day a week to focus on studies and know the boundaries of no asking for anything within this time. I have monthly 1-2-1 sessions with my coach additional to a monthly training 3.5 hour session.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have weekly 1-2-1 sessions with my Manager to go over what I am currently working on as well as any questions I may have. She is very supportive and Is there whenever I need some guidance. My team go out of there way to help me within my studies, when I may need Data sets that I do not have access too they will explore and get for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My coach is very quick to respond to emails and answer any queries, he will also put on additional sessions if a few of our cohort are struggling with something specific. His general attitude is that he is willing to help and find the best solutions for you individually and provides objectives to suit your role and specific needs.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The skills I have learnt whilst completing my qualification have allowed me create charts to present in meeting highlighting the success of activations and campaigns to understand their overall success. What I have learnt during my qualification is beneficial to my industry as I will use these skills throughout my career in any role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Once a week we have 'Wellbeing Wednesdays' where you can get fresh air, do something you enjoy. For example I will use the gym in the office which is of a high quality and has everything that you need. They also run evening classes with personal trainers. We have quarterly meetings which will be held externally and have some sort of social event on afterwards.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a friendly environment with people who want you to achieve your goals and push you out of your comfort zone. Wellbeing and work life balance is at the heart if everyone, which is extremely important as an apprentice to not be overloading in your first full time working environment.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
I would say be confident in yourself and who you are. Always mention any external activities that you do to set you apart from others and make people remember you. I would of like to been told that it is ok not to know everything right away and struggle, as everyone has been in your shoes before and it will slowly come. During your assessment days aim large with ideas, make them out there, big and different ensuring you have a purpose behind your ideas.
