Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role within greeneking is to help manage the pub along side the general manager. Working both front of house and back of house supporting the team, training, placing orders, cash handling, scheduling, hiring new team members, attending meetings, keep up to date with POS and industry trends to drive the Business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I do enjoy the Lifetime format and program. It is very supportive and the trainers are lovely. I have completed many courses with lifetime and each one felt stress free and I was supported and guided through the whole time. The content of the courses are all in-depth and well structured which actually helps you develop your skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed skills such as leading the team, understanding how people learn and how that affects their training / learning. New skills such as applying models and theory to real life situations within the work environment. Still on going with the course so looking to develop more of my knowledge and stills along the way.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My program is very organised and structured. Having my life and the lifetime portal are super useful in keeping track of where I am and what work I need to do. It is also very flexible and can fit it in around work and life so you don’t feel like you need to compromise anything in order to complete the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Greeneking as a company are very supportive when it comes to expanding our knowledge and learning. They actively drive us to sign up for these courses and provide time in the week for us to complete our learning during working hours. Apprentices are actively celebrated within the company during the progression through the course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support I receive from my trainer with lifetime is absolutely amazing. Always a message away if I need help with anything. They also understand what it’s like to be in my position so can give advice on day to day struggles as well as guidance through the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My course allows me to perform better within my role at greene king as it gives me a better understanding of how to manage and look after my team. If I was looking to continue my journey with greeneking this course is allowing me to develop the necessary skills I will need when dealing with my team later in my career
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There is not many extra curricular activities for me to take part in at my place of work. I have been nominated as the Macmillan champ for the area which gives me the opportunity to network with other pubs in the business area. This is to help them raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend them as it is a lovely company to work for as they do look after the staff. They are not perfect but not company is. Greene king are slow to progress, slow to repair things etc but overall they are one of the better places to work for.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
If you are applying to work for a Greene king pub you should be visiting where that is. Go and see for yourself what their service is like and what kind of a team you will be joining and if you like the place as well. Also don’t work for a greeneking you drink in regularly.
