Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Greene King?
Great benefits and ability to progress. Can be high stress and difficult at times but overall, great flexibility and great team to work with
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Leading my team and seeing a shift go well, I enjoy the admin side like cashing up and feeling that I played an important role in my daily work. Knowing that I can be and was relied upon by my team and management.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
I used to feel more needed but my role seems to be less meaningful at the moment. I put in a lot of work to reach the level of ability that I have now and I use a lot of my skill but I fear that the higher level skills I’ve acquired have become redundant to an extent
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
We have a great staff discount scheme and there are various employee benefits found through the employee dashboard, with discounts at many outlets
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
3/5
I am learning still, however I feel with my particular case the ability to learn 1 on 1 has been less and less available due to a major increase in footfall at our site
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
3/5
I am maintaining my basic level skills that are required for my role through regular shifts, however besides my NVQ training I am not finding time to expand my knowledge or work directly with management to hone or learn new skills

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
I know that I can call or message to arrange a meeting or talk about anything the majority of the time
How is your work-life balance?
3/5
I am in a rather remote area so finding the funding and time to go to the city centre and meet my friends is difficult. There’s a lot going on at my job right now too which means the collective chat is always active so it can be hard to separate myself from that whilst still showing my interest in my job.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
Besides workplace bickering and hits to morale through overall performance we are a great team that seem to show a genuine care for each other once everything is stripped back
How would you rate Greene King initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Hiring is broad and non exclusive, with plenty of training to ensure that everyone feels safe and accepted at work, whether that’s an employee or a customer
How would you rate Greene King CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
They have a high aim for being Net 0 and greener by the year. Their goals and aims are shared company wide too to guarantee that we are all on the same page

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall, they are a brilliant company to work for both personally and objectively. Fair pay and great community all round. There are hardships, like with any job, and hospitality is a demanding role however there are avenues made available by Greene King to ensure employees can be heard.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
I was given the idea that I’d have more on hand support, however outside of the lack thereof in comparison to what was promised, my experience has lined up with what was proposed and what I expected being familiar with the hospitality trade
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Greene King?
Be straight to the point about what you’d like out of the job, many people apply and are shocked by what it is actually like to work there compared to what they expected in the interview, but if the questions are asked the picture can be painted properly
