Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a nursery assistant. My role is to help the main teacher and help her prepare lesson plans for the children. I also record my key children's development according to the statutory framework known as the EYFS every child matters. I also create observations based on where each child is up to acccroding to their age and stage.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programmes. There are some very interesting new methods that are being taught and being up to date on the latest way of helping children learn is in my best interest. I also found the one on helping children learn their numbers really interesting and the amount of variety and ways to go about it. (This was in one of the modules)

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills since starting the course. I have learnt to safeguard and know how to raise an issue if I see something isn't right. I have also learnt to take it slow if a child is having a melt down, and to not get panicked .
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I found the program did not actually follow the order. This was fine but sometimes I felt it should have. The program itself was well thought out and very good. It included lots of information to help me achieve my best, and learn a lot in a short space of time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer gave me time and encouragement to help me achieve this qualification. She patiently answered all my questions and made sure I thoroughly understood what is needed from me. She also helped me to fill in my key child's learning journal until I was familiar and could do it myself.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was amazing, she was so helpful and always responded to her emails and answered all my questions in order. We also had regular meetings and would give me hints and tips to help me in my work. She assessed me and gave me pointers in a constructive manner.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The reason I did this course was to better myself in the early years. I feel I have benefitted tremendously in all areas. I now understand what being in a nursery is all about. I can also take on being the main class teacher. Something that I couldn't do before. The qualification has been eye opening and really enjoyable.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a few extracurricular activities these involve the after school club where children stay on past the school day and go home later. I stay later and give the children a structured learning play program. Sometimes we will go over children's homework or tests to help them understand the lessons more.

Paragon Skills main focus is to get you ahead in your learning. They achieve this by helping and guiding you throughout the entire time you are doing the course. The courses they offer help you to go up on the pay scale and make employers want you because you have the qualification the employers want.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Paragon Skills?
My advice would be to be on top of your course the quicker you start it the quicker you finish it. Do your best to finish the assignments before your tutor comes to observe you. If you are unsure of a question email the full question to your tutor.Good luck.
