Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis, my job role is problem solving within my team along with working on a long term project. I have also worked on the more regular tasks that need completing within my team to meet our objectives. Team working and collaboration is also a vital part of our team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My daily role gives me the opportunity to do something I enjoy, and I always look forward to the next challenge I will face. My team are excellent to work with and are always happy to help me if I get stuck on an issue. That is the same for everyone I have come across in the organisation.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I did have previous experience of programming in Python and Java from GCSE and A Level, however from starting and being a part of this apprenticeship I have developed my Python skills to be able to develop more efficient and reliable code. Along with this I have started to learn C++, a language I have had no prior experience with.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well structured. The way that the program will take place is well explained and will give the apprentice an opportunity to develop their skills in Software Engineering. Everyone is very supportive in doing this and will always help when you have issues and help direct your development to the areas you need it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer gives me excellent support. We have a mentor who will support us from start to finish of the apprenticeship and help to cater to areas that you need further development along with introducing new areas that you may not have seen before. An example of this is I am beginning to learn C++ as this is a good skill to have going forward in my career. Managers will also support you in the everyday tasks you have for your team, they are all very helpful and always happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
From my training provider. We have sessions with a tutor to go through the assignment every term. This breaks down the assignment and gives tips on what needs talking about. You will also have access to their academic support team, who are able to support you with more specific needs and run workshop for various different skills you will need for the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification gives me an understanding to the everyday running of my team, and puts into context why certain systems and processes are in place. This helps me in my day to day roll giving me an understanding of how the teams operate and why this approach is taken within Arm
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Arm does have various social events that take place through social groups, along with the opportunity to network with others within Arm. As an apprentice, you will not just work with other apprentices and your team, but also people from other teams and be exposed to various different parts of Arm.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Arm to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Arm is a thoroughly enjoyable place to work. It gives you the opportunity to learn and develop a skill that will be vital in the years to come and those who will help you develop are friendly and always happy to help you, whatever your issue may be. That is something that is vital when doing an apprenticeship
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arm?
My biggest piece of advice would be to ask questions. One thing I have learnt the hard way is always ask questions, however small or irrelevant they may sound. That is because there is always something to learn, however small or big. You will never stop learning and that is vital while working at Arm
