Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day to day role as a kitchen and bathroom adviser is taking customers leads for the design consultants and helping them with there choices for there kitchen and bathroom designs. Booking in appointments and helping with Admin. For the apprenticeship- Making sure i note down everything new i have learnt that is relevant

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find at the moment, being a couple of months in, When my work schedule is busy, it is hard to find time to do apprenticeship work, some of the modules can be a little repetitive. I need to manage my own time. Retaking my Maths has made it more difficult, to manage apprenticeship, my job role and maths at the same time

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt new skills- Mainly when it comes to learning about the products, Because i was new in the business when i started the apprenticeship, so i didn't have the general knowledge of the role anyway. I can only assume as it goes along, i will learn more that i find useful.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think the structure is good, The modules needed to be completed are clearly highlighted making it easy to tick these off. The Webinars and virtual calls are well structured and on time. Meaning i can plan around my days since they are booked in advanced.
I find it useful knowing what modules are coming up to help prepare me

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My store manager has given me loads of support with the apprenticeship, with any help i have needed, helping me block out my calendar to ensure that i have time to fit the apprenticeship in. He has also given me extra support with my additional maths learning i need to complete

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

a lot. The team are quick and responsive when it comes to helping and support i need. I do need extra help with my maths qualification- I have requested a tutor after it was mentioned i can get one. However it seems like not much has happened in a way of providing one for me.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Loads, I find with this specific role that knowing your products is key. Lots of webinars and calls/workload in regards to products to help me. Because i was new in the role anyway, I didn't have the knowledge before starting the apprenticeship, so the modules help with this, and my confidence with customers.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Not really.
I do socialise with people outside of work anyway doing things that i enjoy with the friends i have made here, i feel that if there was loads of social events i probably wouldn't attend to too many anyway, due to having other things i enjoy doing with my time off.

Yes

Why?

My personal experience has so far been good. I have learnt loads and grown as a person. I get the support i need from my Store Manager and colleagues in anything that i may have concerns or anything i may need.
Everyone here is nice and friendly, and makes it a nice place to work

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Wickes PLC?

Be yourself, be honest to themselves and yourself as to what you want achieve for your short, medium and long term goals- to make sure it is a arrangement you can come together to help achieve. I find the hours are pretty flexible in regards to a work life balance
