Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I took part in a comprehensive, intensive training programme for the majority of the first 2 weeks. Most of my work involved carrying out individual pension calculations on Microsoft Excel for various defined benefit (DB) pension scheme clients. In addition to this, I assisted with a triennial valuation project for a major pension scheme. Also, I was given various ad hoc data processing and analysis tasks to complete, as well as a research project on valuations concluding in a presentation at the end of the internship.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I got the opportunity to work on real client work for some of the largest pension schemes in the UK. I was treated with respect by both junior and senior members of the team and my views were valued and appreciated.
