Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I perform infrastructure and cross-functional testing on a day-to-basis. This involves daily team meetings, daily engineering meetings and daily project level meetings with the customer where we can quickly discuss and remediate any issues. We alos have a daily defect meeting to see what defects have been resolved and if we can retest.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed the programme, I particularly enjoyed the online classes as this gave everybody a chance to discuss to met each other as we were otherwise unable to due to Covid restrictions. It also allowed us to discuss our course work with the instructor and get one to one assistance.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned many new skills in relation to information security which I can apply to my role. The things I have learnt are Principles of Information Security Testing, Carrying Out Information Security Risk Assessment, Carrying Out Information Security Incident Management Activities, Carrying Out Information Security Audits, Testing the Security of Information Systems, Investigating Information Security Incidents and Carrying Out Information Security Forensic Examinations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is very well structured. The induction was online with a group of employees were we were able to ask questions and expectations were set. The regular meetings with our mentor were very helpful too and he always fed back to my manager how I was doing, what I was doing and what next.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer was very supportive however I had to use my own personal annual leave to attend the week long online classes. Having completed a similar course previously while with a different employer they gave me the time off to attend these classes and even reimbursed fares as this was pre-lockdown.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My trainer made himself available at any time of day and night. He replied to emails and telephone calls promptly, in fact the only time that I can recall I had a delayed response was because I had contacted him when he was in the middle of hosting an online class
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I have added my qualification to my CV and uploaded it to our company in house system where the information is available when other teams are looking to recruit new employees. I am hopeful that at some point in the near future I will be successful in securing a new role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions there is nothing like this going on currently. Prior to this we would have monthly team lunches and seasonal nights out where everybody could relax and get to know each other out with the confines of the work place. There has been discussion about having online meetings on a Friday afternoon doing quizzes etc but this has yet to occur.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend DXC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company has come under new management both n the UK and abroad. The new management are brining with them a whole new experience by changing lots of things right down to the company logo and have introduced pay rises which have not been available for many a year now.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DXC?
The onboarding process is quite simple, starting with an acknowledge of your application, interview date and you are notified promptly as to whether you have been successful or not. The best advice that I can give to new applicants is do not be afraid to ask questions as everybody is always happy to help.
