Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves working of different cad software on a day to day basis where i have to design and create a part which would be essential for the item i can designing the part for. I have to work with a team to make sure all of my designs are correct.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy this programme which makes me want to go everyday to see the people i work with everyday. I hope when i move into the offices that my skills i have developed in college i will be able to use them to meet other people and make new friends.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt to be more confident within myself as i had to meet new people in this workplace. When i enter the offices i will also have to meet new people and this confidence i have developed will help me be more open to them. I have learnt how to use CAD softwares.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

In college i do not feel like the programme is well structured, a lot of people find it difficult to ask for help especially when we don’t have a qualified tutor looking after that lesson. To many tutors have made it hard to work as some cannot make it and we get left with a supply.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I don’t feel we get an adequate amount of support from my employer as some people struggle to get an answer back from them when we are in need of them. Sometimes they answer us back straight away however a lot of the time we could be waiting a week.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I think now we have more tutors we get a good amount of support, before we got more tutors i do not believe we had enough support but now i think we have a good amount. i think it is still hard for them because there is a lot of students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

These skills i am learning now i think will help me a lot when moving into the business, i have learnt the correct way to communicate electronically and verbally so i can use these skills in the business. All the lessons i have been taught will benefit me in the future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am unaware of these extra curricular activities however when i learn more about them i do think i would like to take part in these as they improve skills that you might already have or they can give you extra skills you might need that you didn’t know you had.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a good place to start work as you get to gain qualifications whilst being employed. It gives you qualifications that you might need for another job if you feel BAE is not for you. It provides on the job training and you can make new friends whilst doing it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure you know what you are applying for and what it involves. A lot of people regret choosing the job they have picked for because they didn’t know what it entailed and now they do they wish they applied for a different role. Make sure you know what you want.
