Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In the first year I go to college full time where I complete an level 3 engineering course. Once finished this we go the business on day release to college where we complete a HNC course. While in the business we are learning all about the CAD softwares and how to use them properly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
From my experience I am really enjoying my time during my apprenticeship. In college there can be parts of hitch are a bit boring but I feel as though that’s the same with every job. I am really enjoying learning about all the different subjects in college as well.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt new skills such as presentation skills but also a big one is my ability to use CAD softwares to design complex and various products. I have developed my communication skills and teamwork skills as I have been working in groups a lot during this first part of my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I feel as though generally my program is well structured however there has been times which I am not sure what I am really meant to be doing. Additionally, there has also been times where we have had a lesson and no teacher has turned up meaning we have just sat in a classroom not doing a great deal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
From my experience in my first year I feel like I have received support from my employer, but not as much as I think you should be getting. This may be because that we are only in college and not actually in the business, but I think we should have more communication with the business.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive a lot of support from my training provider as if I am struggling with anything there is always someone that I can go to help if I need any. I can get help from any of the teachers I have but also student services if it is something more than just to do with lessons.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Currently, I have not really used my qualification In the business due to the fact that I have not actually been into the bus lines yet to carry out my role, however I feel like I have learnt a lot in my qualification and feel comfortable that I will be able to perform in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are many things that I am able to be involved in with my company, for example there are things like the apprentice council, and there are activities that we do such as a beach clean and stem activities which are happening all the time with in the business.
