Associate Clinical Data Manager Review

The Study Data Manager works within Clinical Operations of Pharma R&D and is a core member of the study team. They are responsible for ensuring a high level of data integrity in all the data that is generated from a clinical trial. This includes making sure the data meets the following ALCOA CCEA criteria. Data Managers work with LDMs to oversee the activities of Data Processors s, who carry out some of the more technical data-related tasks. Data managers also work with all members of the study tea, (Statistics, Programming, Medical Monitors, Study Managers etc.) to ensure data from the clinical trial site(s) is flowing to all the areas of the company it needs to in the most appropriate format.
There is no standard day - leading meetings with various stakeholders, data reconciliation work, presenting to clinical study sites etc.

Yes. I had to prove myself for the first 6 months but once I had done so the amount of responsibility & accountability given to me was significant. I was doing the same work as my colleagues who are permanent members of staff at GSK.

Absolutely. My confidence has increased dramatically over the course of my placement. I have developed my leadership skills, teamwork ability, communication skills, presenting skills, understanding of both my role, the company and the wider context of the pharmaceutical industry has hugely benefitted my commercial awareness. Additionally, professional conduct, networking, decision making, innovation skills.

My manager was incredibly supportive, ensured I had plenty of opportunity to stretch myself and placed a huge focus on my personal development. Additionally, I was able to nurture relationships with many of my colleagues which allowed me to make use of additional mentors throughout my placement. Even members of various leadership teams went out of their was to connect and support me through my placement.

Being completely transparent, GSK has been a pleasure to work with. It's culture promotes diversity and inclusion consistently. I have been incredible surprised by how willing my colleagues have been to welcome and support me. It does not feel like an impersonal huge corporate company at all, rather a community.

I have really enjoyed my placement at GSK and have benefitted from it dramatically. My placement was almost entirely remote-working due to the pandemic. However, I feel that my manager & the company as a whole has done everything they can to make me feel included, valuable and at home within the company. It has also not limited the amount of responsibility & accountability that I have been given over the course of the year. The placement year is very well-rounded with the opportunity to get involved with various ERGs & initiatives outside of project work.
