Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves researching, sending out newsletters and working with different projects. It also involves a lot of communicating. This may be with my line manager, other apprentices or other colleagues within my team. Communication may involve using applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams, sending emails and attend meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My apprenticeship programme is thoroughly enjoyed by me and my cohort of apprentices. This is due to many factors. Such as, the support given to apprentices, and the transparency that is greatly encouraged by colleagues and my line manager. The company culture also shows importance to taking breaks and preventing burnout.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have greatly developed by communication skills. This is due to the large amount I do on a day to day basis. Furthermore, I have improved my confidence with communicating to a wide range of stakeholders. I have presented a few times to my core team as well as external stakeholders.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I believe the programme is very well organised and structured. The induction segment allowed apprentices to ease into the organisation. I had never experienced being part of a corporate business but the induction put me in good stead to settling in. The support received by my coach has been very helpful in completing and understanding my coursework.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a large amount of support from my line manager. I am able to speak to her regarding any questions or concerns I may have. Her availability allows me to email, speak and message her at any point during the working day and her responsiveness allows for work to be done smoothly.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My coach from Multiverse provides a lot of support working towards my qualification. I speak with her on a monthly basis and we have progress reviews every so often which allows for me to receive feedback on my progress of the qualification. When I have problems or concerns, I can easily contact her through email and she replies promptly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that the coursework aspect of the qualification allows me to know more about my job, role and industry that I work in. The different units take you through a journey of finding more about your organisation. This covers the general goals of the organisation to delving deeper into certain departments.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At the beginning of the apprenticeship, apprentices are allocated certain community teams that apprentices take part in. This ranges from Outreach to running digital platforms for Unilever. We also have the opportunity to take part in virtual events such as pub quizzes, and easter activities. This is gives a fun break.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Unilever is a supportive organisation who have values that reflect the current climate. They are body positive, always progressive towards the environment and push for diversity and inclusion. I believe that Unilever are forward thinkers and take into consideration the progression of their employees and provide activities and learning development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
It is competitive, but once you are accepted you have the opportunity to be part of an extensive network of individuals who will want to see you progress in your career. It's a good idea to understand the company before you attend the interview, so that you know why you would like to be part of it.
