Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Servicing and repair boilers and components in the system and knowing working pressures for gas, electrical readings. This includes going to peoples houses for services and breakdowns. I go in-between working out on patch and going to the training academy in Hamilton time about when out on patch I have a mentor.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy going out on patch due to having a vary of jobs and always keeps me interested and focused. When at the academy it is good because its consolidation on everything I have learnt and learning what I have learnt on patch in more depth at the training academy
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt about electrics and how to test for short circuits, isolation, earth loop imparlance and many more checks. I have learnt by a make of a boiler what the normal fault would be when a break down occurs and how to carry out a service on boilers, fires.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

At the beginning it was unorganised due to COVID 19 how ever once we found out we had to stay on the teams call it became more organised and there became more tasks we could do and then once we got out on patch it was good and when we got to the academy we caught up on everything
How much support do you receive from your employer?

From my manager on patch I have had lots of support and help on everything, at the training academy the trainer had giver help as well. The course is more of a self lead course how ever there is the information on power points that we can go through when ever
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Get quite a bit of help and advice when I am really stuck and can phone whenever and one of the managers will answer and advise where to find the information at or help u with what the answer is. Scottish gas have a confident that you can go to
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

They have extreamly helped me due to not knowing much before and now they are making me confident in what I do and more confident in speaking to strangers and advising help and knowledge to customers and confident in selling hive and knowing how the heating system works with each system
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

They are no extra curricular activities provided by Scottish gas. How ever they used to do Duke of Edinburgh they should do something similar but less forceful due to it having too many demands when trying to carry out an apprenticeship likes of doing volunteering when people in the owne lives have commitments already

Would you recommend Centrica to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a Good experience and they take care of there workers how ever they are starting to put money first and cut peoples contracts but they realised and didn't mess the engineers over as much as they were going to because they livened to the engineers this time
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Centrica?
Think fully before applying due to it being a big commitment like any other apprenticeship. It is a Good apprenticeship and always kept engaged in the working however there is a lot expected from to to upload and document everything you do followed by pictures and a Wright up about it
