Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves handling employers, public and product liability injury claims form inception through to settlement or litigation, it involves establishing coverage, making liability investigations and decisions and establishing quantum through to the settlement of the claims. I am also responsible for providing a bespoke service to a number of clients
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy learning new things and the programme has given me the opportunity to continue my further professional studies towards both my Diploma and ACII, whilst I would say I particularly enjoy studying it provides me with and opportunity to learn new things and eventually turn this into earning potential

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, in my 22 years of claims handling I have learned various skills such negotiating with claimants, involved parties and legal representatives. I have also learnt many administration skills such as arranging and facilitating meetings, providing good customer service to all involved parties and collating various statistics for MI services and other requested mediums.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme has it's flaws, it is organised well and the online platform works and the coaches are friendly, knowledgeable and good to work with. However, I feel that too much has been squeezed into too shorter a timescale. To achieve a DIP CII, ACII and a level 7 NVQ plus all the additional tasks whilst working a full time demanding job is virtually impossible in 2.5 years.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer gives me 20% of my time to study which is good although they did take this time off me for nearly 4 months during the initial phase of the COVID pandemic, this is time that I will never back and have had to work additional hours out of my own spare time to claw this back so their support hasn't been perfect.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a monthly meeting lasting approximately 1.5 hours in which to discuss my progress and any issues that arise. They also arrange specialist workshops with a view to group study, in addition to this they are always available to answer any queries which I may have. I have no issues with the support provided.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The studying done during my qualification has provided me with increased knowledge and skills that will undoubtedly assist me in my current role in terms of knowledge base and will also provide me with opportunities to explore different roles in the future either within or outside my organisation. It will also assist in providing me with increased people and customers skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Usually there are activities such as quizzes, social events and volunteering exercises, the company is usually quite good at arranging social events however this has been curtailed recently due to worldwide events beyond their control. I am sure that once the pandemic is over then this events will resume, albeit maybe with a mask on.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend RSA Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it would be really good to have all my mates working with me. RSA is also being taken over by another company at the end of the month so there may be new opportunities available to people either joining the company or it's existing staff. The new owners seem to have a good reputation albeit largely untested in this country.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Group?
Dress smart for the interview, wear a tie and comb you hair, put some deodorant on. Prepare for the interview as they will give you quite a difficult test. Smile and make eye contact and most importantly remember to put my name in the 'recommended by' box on the application form so that I get a voucher.
