Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in Human Resources so my daily tasks mainly involve connecting with employees who are new to Unilever or are leaving Unilever to see how smooth they found the onboarding/offboarding and whether there is any constructive feedback we can take on board. I am responsible for employees based at 100VE.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the work I complete as it involves communicating and ensuring they are comfortable and happy in their role.
My team are the most genuinely supportive and kind people, everyone looks out for each other and no one is left with too much work as we will equally split it out if needed.
Unilever exceed my expectations - I thoroughly enjoy each and every day!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed a countless amount of skills since starting my apprenticeship.
I am studying for a degree in Chartered Management so am developing my general business knowledge.
I also furthered my presentation skills from practising in work environment and also from University modules.
Unilever offer a variety of internal training courses; for example the IGD Fast Track in food and consumer goods 2020 which I completed at the end of last year.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The induction to my programme was seamless, couldn't fault it at all.
The support and training provided is brilliant, everyone is very supportive and happy to help where they can.
My mentor is always on hand to help when I need a piece of evidence for University or any help with my workload.
I couldn't recommend the programme enough!!
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Everyone at Unilever is willing to help, whether it be with my University work or my day to day work. If they don't have the time when requested, they will ensure at some point they have the time to help me.
Support and guidance is easily found through the Bot.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Tutor is always there to help me, they are happy to be contacted at any point and will organise a call to answer any queries.
My tutor regularly check in with my manager to ensure I am coping well at work and to check if any additional support is required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My learning helps me in my day-to-day job because I have a better general business knowledge. Although the content I learn is not about Unilever, I can relate it to Unilever which helps me understand the reasoning behind business structure and decisions. I am not yet half way through my apprenticeship but already know more about the FMCG industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are always extra-curricular activities available to employees, even during COVID. At Christmas Unilever organised cocktail making events for the apprentices as well as a number of quizzes and baking sessions. Unilever also run competitions for the apprentices to encourage people to get outside and do some exercise, for example how many steps we complete per month.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Unilever are so supportive as a whole, they encourage you to develop yourself as much as possible to meet your own personal career goals.
Unilever have endless employee benefits because they care for and want to look after their employees.
Each member of staff, whatever department or level is a valued member of Unilever.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
My biggest tip would to be yourself and don't be worried. The interview process is not as daunting as you may think, all the interviewers are lovely and will make you feel as comfortable and natural as you can.
The opportunities are endless so don't limit yourself because you don't think you will get it, if you are committed enough you will succeed.
