My role as a pension administrator is to handle member correspondence at my current stage I deal with individual member updates such as: Changing bank details , changing members address's , issuing expression of wishes forms.
I also have regular team meetings to ensure everyone knows what needs to be done for the day/week and to communicate any issues that may have occured

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Working remotely from home without actually meeting your team in person is rather challenging especially as a social outgoing person. However, regardless of this the programme is quite rewarding in the sense of having a busy day with a lot of work getting it completed and feeling a sense of accomplishment.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt time management skills and developed my organisation ability as I have to structure the day accordingly to what work / meetings I have and prioritise client deadline tasks. My social skills have always been a strength of mine and being at work is somewhere I can demonstrate this.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The organisation/structure of the programme is very good and well planned. We had introduction for 3 weeks which was well planned out with joiner information / modules followed by ice breakers getting to know the team. Also the systems BW use make work organised which is important and makes the journey smoother
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive as much support as I need from my employer and there are many different colleagues I can go to whether it be my buddy , team mates, team leader or HR. Everyone is happy to help and listen with open ears. If I do not understand something the team do not get frustrated
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive regular 4 week meetings from my training provider where we have reflective discussion on what I have learnt as well as feedback on things I can do to improve my ability and knowledge. I am also given aims for the next meeting with clear instructions to work towards my qualifications
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that meetings with my training provider ensure im focused and organised in my job role and helps assist me work towards my qualification. Also positive reinforcement from the training provider reflects in my work giving me more confidence in completing work which is good. Overall my training provider helps
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Currently there are no extra curricular activities to get involved in at work but that is due to the nature of the disease that has spread globally. Im sure when there are no social distancing measures there are activity days ( football) charity events and yearly work parties to attend to.

Why?
If my friend wanted to work in pensions / finance and enjoys being in a professional environment then I would definitely suggest BW as a place to work. It has very welcoming employees and a nice atmosphere which is important as it allows things to run more efficiently. I recommend BW

I would say be yourself and dont try to be someone you are not when applying for Barnett Waddingham. Do some research on the company and understand the job role you are applying for. Be enthusiastic, motivated and that will give anyone the best opportunity to become a employee for BW
