Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Work avenrage of 4 days a week usually one 8-4 and three 8-7. Day to day I wake up and check my PDA for the days jobs, jump in my van for around 07:30 and get to first job for 08:00. Complete numerous jobs of install and service.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
A mix bag. Each day can be very different so you can get home feeling like you've smashed it or the next day you could be rushing around with a bad route and the rain pouring. But I guess that is like any job. Overall I quite enjoy the role and as an apprentice you get a study day to learn the theory behind it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Ive learnt lots of new skills such as installing equiptment. Using multiple tools to install. I also have learnt how to fault find and diagnose lots of internet and telelphone issues. An important skill ive grown is my time management which your need as you work through out your day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is fairly well structured. We get a good amount of time at the begining with a mentor who teaches you what you need to know on the field. You also get a study day every three weeks to learn the theory and when you go out on your own you start with a 50% route.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive plenty of support from my employer. They come and visit you out in the field as well as only being aphone call away. We also have a big group chat so if you need any help you can ask a bunch of people for advice or assistance too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
From the training provider side of things you don't get as much help. You get the study day every three weeks which you get the theory side of things done. But generally you don't need a lot of help from that side as you just get through some coursework on your own.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I don't believe it helps a drastic amount as you learn most of the job with your mentor and working out on your own. You have to use your on initiative mostly. Its good to know the theory behind what your doing but generally it doesn't make much difference to your job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Ive joined during covid so currently there isnt much else I can take part of. But they do have reward days over webex. Ive also joined a day which they hold annually where they got a yoga instructor and a fitness instructor doing classes in a active virgin media day.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Virgin Media O2 to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend virgin media to a friend because of the culture behind the company. They have really good perks such as your birthday day off each year on top of a great amount of holiday. They also give you free bupa healthcare. Lastly they are a company that is always evolving and changing for the better.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
The tips id give for someone else applying for to virgin media would be to always be yourself. They appreciate if you can do certain things already but what they are really looking for friendly people with a spark and customer oriented. They can then teach you the rest of the role.
