Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Overall every day i am responsible for making amendments to customers car insurance policies as required by the customer. This involves changing vehicles, changing address, sending No claims discounts, entering temporary vehicles or temporary drivers. This is accomplished by using the intranet and built in systems here at direct line.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I have enjoyed working at home and having the security of full time employment especially in a difficult period that we are all facing with Covid 19. The fact i have gained skills and can study at the same time is a great bonus. Achieving a qualification at the same time as working is great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have picked up a wide variety of new skills since i started working at direct line. I have begun to gain a vast knowledge of the insurance sector, inclusions and exclusions within the motor sector of insurance. I have also grown my own knowledge of motor vehicles that applies within this sector.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Overall the structure from Direct Line is brilliant. We have multiple levels of help throughout the organisation whether that is our Team Leader, the national chat that we can use for guidance or our own team chats. With the studying side that isn't structured well there is very little guidance or assistance. The previous trainer we had was a lot more help than what we currently have.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive constant assistance from my employer. My team leader is always available to assist be it with a work related issue or if it is a personal issue that has arisen. Any help or support that is required can be easily found due to the open door policy that we receive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
At the start i received a good amount of guidance and assistance with the program however since then i have noticed a distinct lack of input. We are just left to read through the book with very little if any input. The whole course feels like it is self learning completely alone. I have received more input from colleagues than babingtons.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Over all it gives a base for insurance but in specific relation to my job role it has very little impact on my daily job role. I hope that in the future it will give a good base towards further qualifications that can be relevant for my job role and this sector.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
At the moment there is Kahoot and a lot of online functions that are available. I think that due to the current climate of Covid 19 they have done the best that they can with the tools available. Understandably the activities are limited but the online does give options for us.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it is a stable job environment the ability to work from home is great and there is potential to grow and further development within our sector here. The corporate attitude is a welcoming and decent environment that they have built here at Direct Line. I already have recommended to a few friends.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
To decide what specific role that they want to go forward for and to research if it will suit them. I would also advise any one interested in a job or career at Direct Line that they must think if they can work from home as it is not for everyone.
