Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
It is difficult to explain as I have not began my duties, I am still in training. I will assist the SW lifecycle and deployment, having a broad understanding of services and tools.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy it, and I know the end result is going to provide a great career. My impression for now (as this is the first DevOps apprenticeship BAE are offering), the 16 week period is the scope is too wide. As we will spend most of the programme on the job, I think they should spend more time on what we will be expected to do in the first 6 months.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, pretty much everything I am learning is completely new to me. As my role is technical I am learning things around DevOps culture, to eventually coding in Java.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
It started 2 months late and they hired the trainer as we were meant to begin. I think Estio give off a coyboy impression. As stated, I think the trainer Siamak is doing the best he can given the instructions and requirements of Estio, but as previously said the apprenticeship's initial training needs to be more focused.
The handling has been a bit confusing, we have 3 people who we could contact, and apparently more people who would help if needed. Also, the person who initial inducted us left Estio after 1 week of us being with the training - there was no hand over so there was no point of contact.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
A lot, from IT equipment to allocating a buddy who has gone through similar training. Our line manager seems to have a lot on their plate, and so any questions we have don't get answered for a while (2 weeks, if at all) - this could be improved.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Hard to say for now as we have just began. They seem quite on top of the requirements and making us aware of the criteria we must meet.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
100%, with no comparison trainer, I definitely need this training as I am entry level.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes
