Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am on the shop floor of the factory contributing to and completing different engineering activities relating to building aircraft wings
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I do really enjoy the programme as I feel like I’m learning everyday. I have also made good friends through the apprenticeship which makes it more enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes I have learnt a lot of new hand skills and knowledge relating to engineering in aviation. Airbus has also payed for us to do many courses to broaden our skill set.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme hasn’t been that well organised in my case but that was more down to challenges relating to covid. Another issue was that my TTO went off on the sick for the 1st year so my class was without a TTO for about 6 months.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer is very supportive. All the staff are helpful and there are systems in place to support us if need be
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support from coleg cambria for the most part has been quite good. For our academic we have different teachers for each unit so it is dependant on the teacher being knowledgable on the subject and being a good teacher.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
A lot of the work we do doesn’t carry over at all into what we are doing in work but it is useful to know in order to improve our hand skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are loads of activities to get involved in. I don’t get involved myself but for people that do want to it’s there
