Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Working day to day within the manufacture area. I ensure that all equipment is clean and ready to be setup for production use. I get called to filling lines when issues around equipment arise. I ensure that the workplace is clean and ready to be use. I use industrial CIP (Clean In Place) machines.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my program, I get to learn a wide range of skills across many different departments which enables me to meet new people across site. As apprentices we get vast amounts of exposure and experiences within the surrounding area. We also have many apprentice activities and get togethers.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned and developed a wide range of new skills whilst working for GSK. I have learned how to work well within a team and how to overcome obstacles. I have also trained members of staff and learned how to be a leader. I have been able to obtain a level 3 in process operations and I am working towards a HNC in engineering

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
This program is organised and structured well. However, sometimes we are uncertain to where our next rotations will be and how long we will be within a certain area which makes it more difficult to train. In regards to apprentice activities we are well informed and these activities are well structured for us.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive vast amounts of support from my employer. Everyone within the department is happy and available to train me. Managers and mentors are there to support you in any way that is possible. We have an apprentice lead who helps us with any issues and provides us with important advice and help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
When working towards my level 3 diploma in process operations we received help from our tutors and college assessors. However when we were working towards our HNC in engineering we have received little support from most tutors (With some exceptions). We have had to rely on help from peers and the internet when completing assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My level 3 diploma in process operations is very helps as it taught everything behind the process, for example we learned about valves on plants and flow. The HNC in engineering helps us to understand some processes and equipment however for general day to day work we do not use most of knowledge gained at college.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a great amount of extra-curricular activities in which we take part in. Some of these activities are: volunteering, conducting careers fairs, sporting events for charity, apprentice quiz's, apprentice socials and many more. These are a great way to have fun and meet other apprentices across site whilst learning valuable skills which cannot be taught in the workplace.
