Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Currently I work in Change, Integrations and Divestments and this team manages most projects that impact GSK. This includes supplier integrations, brand or site divestments and the implementation of joint ventures. My role is very project-orientated and so my day-to-day includes a lot of meetings and communication via email with people from across the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with GSK on the apprenticeship scheme and will be sad when it comes to an end, however I hope to offboard into GSK as I love working for the company. I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship scheme at GSK to anyone who is considering it!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes I have absolutely developed both soft and hard skills throughout my time on the scheme. This includes things like presentation and people skills but also technical skills like Excel and finance knowledge. GSK are very proactive in terms of personal development and offer you every opportunity to develop yourself.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well structured; we have an external Learning and Development Coach (LDC) who tracks our progress via monthly check-ins. We also have a programme manager within GSK to is always on-hand to provide support and assistance. Line managers are also very proactive and supportive of the scheme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
GSK provides a lot of support for the apprenticeship. We get paid study leave days for exams and they ensure we have the best training materials on hand to assist us in passing our exams to the best of our ability. They provide lots of opportunity to develop in different ways
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is incredibly proactive and supportive, with monthly check-ins and ad hoc catch ups where required. They are on-hand to answer and queries around the qualification or the apprenticeship and support us through everything we go through at work. They are very organised and ensure that we hit our exam targets
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification is very relevant to my role but it has taught me not only knowledge but also other skills such as analytical thinking and evaluation. All of these qualities help me to perform better in my day to day role as they give me a more grounded understanding of the industry I work in
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is always a plethora of extra curricular activities to get involved in at GSK, even throughout Covid. In my first year (pre-Covid), I helped organise a Christmas party and have recently got more involved in the apprentice network at GSK. I have also become a STEM ambassador which is really exciting

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
GSK has been so supportive all throughout my apprenticeship and has helped me develop in ways I would never have been able to had I attended university instead. By doing an apprenticeship with GSK you get such a unique experience which no university course can offer, so I definitely recommend it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
Be yourself during the application process and smile! Do some research into the company's background and consider why you actually want to work for GSK as opposed to any other company. Make sure you understand a bit about the industry and what we do before you attend your interview.
