Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in Early Talent Recruitment within Human Resources. I'm currently generating contracts and liaising with programme managers as we make offers to early talent roles. I'm also planning our candidate engagement activities to ensure candidates have a good onboarding experience prior to starting their role. Finally, I also frequently take part in planning, organising and speaking at events to attract a diverse range of candidates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy working on my programme as I feel I'm learning new skills and expanding my knowledge everyday. Since starting my apprenticeship I feel I have grown in maturity and have particularly enjoyed meeting new people and learning from experience professionals within the business. I'm always looking forward to learning new things everyday.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've developed a range of skills including organisational through balancing both work and study and being able to commit to deadlines. I've increased my team working skills through working on long term group projects. I've also increased my presentation skills through speaking at various events to large audiences. Finally I've learnt networking skills through being able to communicate with stakeholders and network with colleagues internally. This has enabled me to build my confidence in communicating with a range of people.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is structured in a way that suits my learning best. I have a set time to complete my studying for my course and my manager is very supportive and flexible in allowing me to split my time with completing both my online coursework and business work related tasks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am lucky to receive lots of support from my manager as we have weekly catchups to go through my standard development plan and raise any concerns I'm having with work. She also willingly attends my meetings with my learning and development coach in order to help support me when she can if needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have monthly catch ups with my learning and development coach from my training provider. Here we discuss my off-the-job learning tracker to ensure I am meeting the requirements needed for the apprenticeship. I also have a person of contact if I have any course related concerns who can support me with these.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification definitely helps me perform better in my role. I am able to apply what I've learnt in my studying to my work related tasks. This helps me learn things quicker and is effective in developing my skills as I am able to learn both actively and through studying.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have a team called NxtGen which is run by apprentices who help build and maintain relationships between apprentices. This includes planning various social activities such as virtual quiz nights, virtual networking events and outdoor activities. We also have employee resource groups that we can be apart of if we want to.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I love the culture and working environment at GSK. I feel I have been given lots of support from both GSK and my training provider and as an apprentice I am treated respectfully in the company. I also feel there have been lots of opportunities for my career development which is important to me and would be valuable to a friend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
Take your time going through each step of the application process. It is important to research the company including its purpose and values as that will help you understand why you want to work there and your motivations. GSK wants people who are naturally motivated and genuinely want to be apart of helping the company achieve its purpose so being able to show this in an interview is really important.
