Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my current role a provide a review into orders coming into the business and work with partnering teams to complete reviews for the orders and acquire any missing information of the orders. Another day to day task I have is to help the wider team with process improvements to help the team with day to day proceedings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the current programme I am on, the ability to work with many colleagues many different departments across the business makes work very enjoyable. I have found the apprenticeship to be a very good way of introducing me into the working world with many opportunities and platforms to learn and develop my knowledge and skills further.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since joining my apprenticeship, it has given me a environment to really develop my confidence skills, with opportunity's to work with other colleagues and apprentices on projects being a big factor. Another skill I have been able to improve is my personal time management, the balance of meetings, daily priorities and University studies has helped with this.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship programme is structured very well. The structure of rotating round the core departments of the company allows us as apprentices to developed knowledge of many aspects of the business. The use of the mentor scheme for older apprentices also allows apprentices to have a point of call with any issues . queries we may have.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
When in each rotation, we are assigned a Line Manager who is our point of call for our day to day work. This allows us to have support and guidance when we have questions and issues regarding work. The use of the mentor scheme allows older apprentices to help guide the other apprentices in one to one sessions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Throughout our university assignments we have regular uni days where we are taught the content needed for the module, in a interactive way with a university lecture. The uni days allows us to have a lot of contact time with the lecture to ask questions / support with our ongoing assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The modules we cover in our university degree gives me the knowledge and confidence to develop in my rotations. It gives me a understanding of how a manager should act and the responsibilities they have to uphold. It gives me a guidance to how I should act and what skills I should develop further.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, At GE there are many sports teams that you are able to join, including football and netball teams. There is also a social activities enrichment group for the apprenticeship scheme where their responsibility is to arrange social team building activities. I also through networking in my different rotations and make plans to play Golf with colleagues outside of work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend GE to a friend because of the collaborative working environment to work with other colleagues and the opportunity for career development makes GE a great place to work. On top of the great benefit scheme and the opportunity to network with many people through the rotations I would recommend GE.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
I would advise that you really spend time researching into GE Aviation to start to build a foundation to your knowledge. A really useful opportunity that GE Aviation offers is Work Experience, which I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of apply as it allows you to get insight into what departments are at GE and what the job involves.
