Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as Motor claims handler includes, handling claims from start to finish, establishing liability, setting up repair and hire services for customers, liaising with third parties such as third party insurers, solicitors and garages. On a day to day basis I also deal with complaints from customers who are not happy with a service.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme because everyday is different, this keeps me engaged and I look forward to coming to work everyday. My team and other colleagues make coming to work enjoyable as everyone is willing to help and friendly. The companies values are also something I believe in for a workplace so this is good.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new skills through my time at Direct Line as a Motor Claims Handler. I have learnt how to work within a team and communicate. I have also gained my Level 2 qualification in Customer Service. I have learnt how to deal with high pressure and stressful situations calmly.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well structured and organised. We had an intial meeting with the apprentice college who went through the whole plan for the apprenticeship, what we would be doing, what to expect, the syllabus, so we knew straight away what we would be doing. Then we finally met our tutor who we had for the whole time so this was good as we could create a bond and friendship. Our tutor was there whenever we needed them via phone or email to answer any questions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my manager, they told us any upcoming events for the apprenticeship, they kept on top of what chapters we were reading and where we should be up to, they really wanted to know and understand about the apprenticeship so they could help as much as they could.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I feel i receive a great deal of support from the training provider and tutor through the process. I was given all their contact details if i ever needed to ask questions, i was given websites and resources to use that helped towards the qualifications I would not have been able to it if it wasnt for them. I really enjoyed the experience.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel my qualification has really helped me perform better in my role. I have more knowledge about the industry itself and also not only my job role but what people in other departments do, this has helped as now i know who the best department is to seek help from when i have different queries.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are always activities going on at work to keep everyone engaged, its been especially important during COVID-19 as we have all been working from home so its been nice to still speak to people even though we arent in the office. We have quizzes where we can win prizes and also charity events throughout the year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Direct Line to a friend as it is a really good company to work for, you feel like you are valued and important and not just another colleague. Theres lots of opportunities to progress so you dont feel like you'll be in the same role, theres opportunities to develop and grow.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
I would say go for it! Best decision I ever made was applying for the role. I have grown so much as a person, I have learnt so much and I actually enjoy going to work everyday. Its an amazing place to work and if thats what youre looking for in a job role i wouldnt hesitate to apply.
