Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
I take calls to help customers when they have been involved in a car accident. I will make sure the customer is OK and get down all the details of the accident. I will then make the customer aware how we cab sort the car out and get hire etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I am not a huge fan of the programme if i'm 100% honest. I think it can be quite boring at times and the company can sometimes (not all the time) take our learning breaks away when they shouldn't as it is in our contract.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
I have improved my computing skills.
I have learnt how to deal with difficult customers and situations.
Knowledge on cars and insurance as a whole.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Microcom and Babington are very well organised and do their best to have meetings arranged and work checked. However the company can make it difficult at times an communication between the companies can be poor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Employer tries hard to make sure our 3 and half hours learning breaks are in but have sometimes taken them away from us when its busy, even though its in our contract for us to have them and can't be taken out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider has been brilliant with support and makes sure we have meetings scheduled in to go over our apprenticeship and exam.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It can help at times but I think in the apprenticeship we are learning things we do not need to know for our job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
No
Why?
The job can be very challenging at times and it can be very stressful. Personally for me I'm not a huge fan but its a good job if you want to work your way up in insurance and good pay for someone my age.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
be prepared to deal with challenging calls and customers. Don't feel scared to ask for help.
