Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
day to day i am currently working on supplier reconciliations. i use excel spreadsheet to make sure the date we have on our ledger matched that of the supplier. On Wednesday however i cover my team leaders work as she is part time and post direct credits received into the company to the correct files.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am enjoying the programme and learning so much! but am slightly worried that after my AAT ends there is not a role for my within my team/company that will let me use my new knowledge and skills and help me develop further. i will carry on doing the role i am already doing and there will be no progression.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
over the past year i have learnt how to do bank reconciliations as this is new of the skills i have learnt during my apprenticeship. However i think it would be great if i could shadow an accountant in the company to learn some more skills. at the moment i struggle to take skills i have learnt from my AAT and use them at work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
babington is really well structured organisation, i have monthly catchups with my tutor over teams where i can voice any concerns or questions and he has talked me through assignments. All the textbooks and material online is really helpful. AAT website also has loads of practice papers which i found really helpful aswell.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
We have monthly catch ups and she is very helpful if i ask her any questions. But as i am training for an accountancy positions and no one of my team is an account it is really hard to take skills i have learnt from my AAT and input them into my day to day work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
i am given a lot of support from the training provider, i can email as any time and they are happy to help with any issues. if i require any extra help in a module they are happy to go through one to one with you and guide you through any practise papers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
i believe my qualification helps we understand the reason why i am complete a certain piece of work. it makes you look as the bigger picture of a company and how day to day takes effect bigger issues. it has made me more confident in my role and better at communicating
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
As my apprenticeship started during covid i haven't had the chance to socialist with anyone at work as we normally would. My team has daily catch up and sometimes zoom calls so we can see each other. Hopefully when covid restrictions are lifted we can start seeing each other again.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I love working for Direct Line, it is such a great company who really value its employees. They are always keeping us up to date with news and lockdown stories of what people have been getting up to. We also have such good benefits for working here, like bonuses and medical care.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
Direct Line offers a lot of opportunity for employees you just need to ask. I think some people are to afraid to ask for things when the company as happy to give them. if you are happy to work hard and go the extra mile then direct line will do the same for you.
