Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role I am responsible for everyone working and staying at the hotel while I’m on shift. I check guests in and out of the hotel. I assist the hotel manager with KCSA. In my apprenticeship I’m learning about being a supervisor and I am using this in my role to help me do my job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am really enjoying my apprenticeship! My lifetime trainer is AMAZING! She really challenges and pushes me to be better. She is also super supportive. During a BIL I had for about 3 months she would ring me every couple weeks to check in on me which I though was so thoughtful. I’m enjoying learning what it is to be a leader on a deeper understanding and how management can effect a team’s performance.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
So many! My communication skills are better, my leadership skills are better. I have a greater understanding on what it means to be a supervisor. I am able to motivate my team more with my new skills. I am more confident and outgoing at work as I feel more knowledgeable.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My trainer is super efficient, she is always available to go through things with me. I think the mylife training modules could do with updating but other than that no complaints. Everything is going smoothly and I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship. I did take a break in learning for roughly 3 months due to personal issues. She sorted that for me with no issues but also got me back into learning as soon as I was ready.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My line manager is super supportive too. She goes through my work with me to see how I am getting on and if I ever get stuck she will always assist me. She also checks in on me weekly to see my work and make sure everything is going smoothly.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Rachael Mortimer at Lifetime training has been a massive support and really made me open my eyes. We have many debates about many things to do with the apprenticeship which really makes me think about things in different lights which I really enjoy. She always has time to help me. Super efficient at replying to emails too!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My apprenticeship has helped me in my role in many different ways. I feel more confident at work due to new knowledge that I have learnt. I have a greater understanding of why we do what we do in the hospitality industry. My knowledge on management and leadership skills has increased by miles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Extra extra curricular activities that we carry out our mainly to do with raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Every year we do a 7 mile walk to raise money. Before Covid, every couple of months the team would get together to do different activities such as darts competitions, bingo and we had a karaoke night planned before Covid!!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lifetime Training to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The support that I have received has been amazing. I really feel as though my apprenticeship has not only increased my confidence at work but also out of work. My knowledge has increased significantly. I really have been enjoying my apprenticeship more than I thought I would. I’m so glad I did it and I can’t wait for my level 4!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lifetime Training?
Honestly I don’t think there are many tips or advice I can give as the lifetime trainers really are supportive. The only advice I would give would be to keep going back onto topics you’ve already covered so you don’t forget them ready for the professional discussion.
