Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
There were talks everyday from many different speakers from the various departments. I really enjoyed them found them very useful as they gave me a great high-level overview of the company. There were also some more technical talks, which were very interesting to hear about. The programme was organised very well, with breaks between some of the activities. Given it was online this year, I found that there was still a lot of interaction which was nice. Over the course of the week, there is also a group project which everyone enjoyed as we made use of the Bloomberg terminal.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It gave great business insights as we learnt about the structure of the company, as well as the structure of the different departments. Speaking to many employees at the events with various different roles was also useful and very interesting. Together, this provided a lot of helpful information about potential roles available. In addition, the culture at Bloomberg is really fantastic - everyone is so willing to help. This meant that I was also able to schedule some 1-1 meetings with employees, giving me even greater insights into the company.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Through some of the public speaking activities, I really developed my skills of presenting in front of an audience in terms of content, tone and delivery. Bloomberg had representatives giving us feedback on our speeches which I thought was very valuable. I also learnt a lot about how to use the Bloomberg Terminal which is a new skill I have started to pick up. Teamwork skills were also developed as we worked together in small groups to try and deliver an interesting, engaging and insightful presentation.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is really fantastic. It is one of the best I have seen in the industry. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help, despite their busy schedules. For example, everyone I sent a question to replied with useful, in depth responses. I was even able to schedule a 1-1 meeting with one of employees and she was very helpful and very friendly.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight. I learnt so much every single day and everyone (employees and participants) was so friendly and welcoming. I found using the Bloomberg Terminal particularly exciting, as we were show some of its capabilities which I found truly amazing. I enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm the employees had which showed they truly enjoy their role and being part of the company which was great.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg
Just make sure you do your research on what it is that the company does. Ensure you also know who are Bloomberg's competitors and what makes Bloomberg special. Understand and align with the great culture they have.
