Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Heard from a number of employees over the course of the week offering insight into their departments and what the roles actually entail. This ranged from buy and sell-side players to analytics and sales professionals. A very holistic learning experience was provided as there was a wide variety of opportunities to interact in challenges and Q&A sessions.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very comprehensive, however given I had applied to a specific division of Bloomberg I found some of the information to not be as relevant to me. With that said, it was helpful to look into other roles in order to solidify my interests.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The terminal is a central part of Bloomberg's operations and so we were exposed to this from day 1. I developed my ability to use the Terminal for analysis purposes, extracting information from their data sources quickly and accurately.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Friendly, authentic, and clear. The culture felt very different from typical financial services (because it is FS adjacent), and this is definitely a positive. All but one person we heard from was incredibly friendly and able to communicate very effectively. This aspect was a big highlight for me.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
The insight week was remote due to the ongoing pandemic which detracted from the overall experience, but Bloomberg is obviously not responsible for this. I learnt a lot and made some new connections with peers so the opportunity delivered many positive outcomes.

Emphasise a willingness to learn and a demonstrable interest in financial markets and client service. The main business stream revolves around being able to communicate and work well with others so this is clearly important if considering a career at Bloomberg.
