Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a general manager I oversee 30 team members, I oversee the day to day running of my pub ensuring it is safe to trade adhering to laws set out and the team are safe, we serve customers, food and drink, ensure they enjoy their time at the pub. I ensure the team are trained well, and we adhere to standards set out by the company
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy learning new things, whilst some of this is the same as my level 3, it has been great to do something for me again, and it's always good to learn. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] my trainer is great and I enjoy our visits, he's easy to talk to and will help and point me in the right direction if I need it

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed my managerial style, I am a training house so I am always developing my training styles also. The course has given me insight to different ways of doing things which is great, and definitely things that I'll be using in my job role in the future

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well organised, it's easy to follow on my life, you know where you are on each visit. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] sends an email out after the visit to summarise what needs to be done for the next visit, I think the webinars aren't as well structured, I seem to be going backwards every webinar, this could be due to covid, so it's not really an issue.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Due to covid this has been seriously diminished due to everyone being furloughed, before covid and when we were back at work my line manager was very keen to be involved which was great, so I know the support would have been there if circumstances were different, and when we're back at work I'm sure the support will be there once again
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is great, he answers emails prompt, is always at hand if I need advice, and is very honest about the work I've produced. Hes friendly and especially during covid, he has shown empathy to not only my situation but he always asks how I'm doing at every visit too. He's that good I've signed up 3 more people with him!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think with what I'm learning I will be able to understand my job a little better than I have been. It's also great that I am hoping to get into training because having a deeper knowledge of the role will give me an edge on training new managers.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I'm not sure whether there is anything, althoughwe do have online competitionsat the moment. We have been closed for covid so this may be something to look into when we get back into work, and also with my own team to ensure they are motivated to work in a team once again.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
Yes
Why?
After what they have done for the people who work for greene king during the pandemic. It makes me proud to say I work for a company that has given back to the employees, they are constantly working towards making their employees lives easier, working with mental health charities to ensure the support is out there for anyone needing it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
Show your personality, greene king is a pub company for locals, they want great personalities to bring their pubs to life. It's easy to be tied down with company values, but showing flair, personality and initiative will have the bosses turning heads. The pub is as only good as its manager after all
