Safeguarding children, providing care to children, providing variety of healthy balanced meals throughout day, paperwork, providing activities and routine. Supporting children with additional needs, who have both physical and mental challenges. Keeping children active and stimulated. Completing cleaning, risk assessments, planning, keeping track of the child’s day and noting it down for parents

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed how to deal with challenging behaviours and strategies to use. I have learnt more regarding safeguarding and risk assessments. I have learnt about British values
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My program is well structured and organised. I have monthly phone to check in, be set new tasks, discuss any difficulties if any, to complete reviews and to have a general catch up with my assessor. The online portal used for my work is well structured and easy to use
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive plenty of support from my employer. I have two managers and a senior manager who I can go to with any issues, work or personal. All issues are dealt with in a professional manner and as quickly as possible. I get support and sympathy when needed and reassurance
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I get loads of support and help from my training provider. I can call my assessor whenever I feel is necessary and I get monthly phone calls from them to check in. I can email and text whenever needed if I’m struggling with a task and I get a response quickly
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Things I am learning through my course I am finding that I’m using in my day to day work without realising. It makes a difference in the children and I feel better by providing the service at a better standard. I can see positive results from using my new skills and knowledge in my work

Would you recommend Paragon Skills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You get the support you need and at a high standard. The tasks challenge you and teach you new skills. You get to work and own money at the same time and you get a good qualification at the end of it that opens more doors in further carers. It’s a good course
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Paragon Skills?
Ensure you are passionate about working with children. It’s not the easiest job. It may look it but challenges occur. Ask for support and help when needed, don’t struggle on your own. Make sure your enjoying the course and it something you wanna do as a full time career
