Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Team Leader at Greene King I get the opportunity to run shifts as a Duty Manager which includes end of day finances, organising staff, problem solving, and serving customers amongst others. When not working as a DM, I am able to lead, supervise and train other staff members.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I found the programme easy to navigate through with each module and mini multiple choice exams. My trainers was great in helping and advising throughout. I enjoyed revisiting topics learnt throughout my degree and adapting this towards my current job role. The examination period was well structured and I felt this made it easier to revise and prepare for.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
During the apprenticeship I was able to work on time management and organisation skills while working and studying alongside. It also gave me the opportunity to revisit and develop skills on topics covered throughout my Business Management Degree. It also helped to develop new skills needed for team leader at work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I thought the programme was well structured with every 4 weeks dedicated to a different topic with a mini multiple choice exam to cover the topic at the end. Doing the examination period during the Covid Lockdown meant a lot of changes were made but all of which was well organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
During my project essay I received help and support from many members of staff through inputs, opinions and completing my survey. Throughout the rest of the course my Manager and Assistant Managers helped complete work, assignments and contributed feedback towards my end point assessment in place of the usual observation.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider supported me through my Trainer who was a lot of help during my qualification. We had regular 1:1 meetings where we discussed the modules and the upcoming work. She also helped me to prepare for my end point assessments. She was also very helpful in providing new information throughout due to changes made because of the pandemic.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel this apprenticeship has enabled me to work on the skills I received during my Business Management Degree and help me to adapt these further towards my job role. It also helped me to work on different topics further which are more suited to my role like team working and finance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At my Greene King Pub our team are all close knit and often spend time together outside of work. In work we often have bands playing which create a more social aspect to the job. We also hold charity events for Macmillan and Prostate Cancer. And social events such as fancy dress for St.Patrick’s and New Years Eve.
