Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Own, support and deliver user stories & actions during sprints, as part of an agile squad, to deliver business value and improve smart customers’ in-life journey as part of the Smart Billing Squad and Smart Support Squad.
Create and prioritise opportunities in sprint planning based on cost savings, FTE savings, increasing NPS, demand reduction and complaints reduction. Deliver solutions that are aligned to the wider smart objectives and promote a positive brand & culture.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy catching up with my tutor and the workshops have been enjoyable. Some of the modules are interesting to learn about, however the majority of the offline work is quite boring and the amount of work required to complete the course is off-putting and very difficult to complete whilst having a full time job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Learned project management skills from completing online modules and attending online workshops - conflict management, risk management, leadership types, etc. Developed excel skills and data analysis by having a natural curiosity to how things works in the background and using root cause problem solving to experiment with more automated ways of working

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
My initial thoughts were that is was very structured, having been shown a timeline of events, and having regular catch ups with my tutor. My recent experience is that it is poorly organised, due to the college updating their systems mid-course which meant my progress was lost online, demotivating me, and the requirements (offline work) for what i have to do to pass are not clear. Some appear mandatory and others are not.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
Very little. I have to be proactive to get time in work to complete apprenticeship work and due to my workload it is difficult to be proactive, knowing i don't have the time to complete. I'm also going to be faced with redundancy over the next 12 months, which makes it very difficult to stay focused and motivated
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I feel the support is there if i need it and i couldn't ask for a better tutor. he really is positive and motivating and the college has done well at adopting to a more digital approach to working. It would have been useful to know what contributes towards the final assessment earlier in the programme as a large part of the activity involved online modules that do not contribute to anything (except learning).
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It helps me identify failures that the business has and does not comply with. My course requires me to capture templates (business cases, project plans, etc) It has proven extremely to acquire this evidence due to senior project managers in the business not using them. The learning is useful though for stakeholder management and other parts of my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There is a wellbeing guild that I'm a member of. This involves working collaboratively with the People Chapter and other guild members to create activities and content to support colleagues’ well-being and morale, in and out of work, by driving ideas forward, creating content and leading on wellbeing campaigns.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
No
Why?
Job security mainly. My job won't exist next year and i have been trying endlessly to try and secure a role internally, to no success. Also, due to the amount of SVS leavers, work has increased, more customers are calling and people are demotivated, therefore i cannot recommend it, however it is fair to say that in the past i have recommended it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Getting your foot in the door is not too difficult if you brush up on energy knowledge and some basic competencies, however growth within the company is very difficult and is limited to job location (even in covid, when we are all working from home). I would like work to support more in giving me interviews for internal jobs.
