Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I'm working as a Solution developer. I am responsible for gathering, provisioning, and management of UK Compliance data used in reporting Compliance performance. This includes sourcing correct data (large data sets 1million row+), build and manage the UK Compliance data architecture used for operational management and RUUK Board reporting.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the whole experience a lot. This program was well organized. Because of the Covid situation, I had to do most of my course online which made learning harder, but I have adjusted myself and made it work for me. Overall I can say I had only a positive experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned new skills during my apprenticeship. I have learned HTML, CSS, and Java. I have used learned skills in my day-to-day job to build web-based tools for UK Compliance. Also, it enabled me to develop my personal skills as I have built new professional relationships during my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My program was clearly defined and well organized. All were scheduled by the provider of the course QA. I had dates of the courses clearly booked well in advance so I was able to organize my time around it. If there was any change made I was informed in advance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer fully supported my apprenticeship. I had selected working time for the tasks so I could focus on my coursework. Also, my manager allocated me work tasks that directly linked to my apprenticeship. This helped me with my portfolio writing because I used those tasks as examples.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My tutor has been very helpful from the beginning. During the first meeting, he gave me all details needed for support. I case I had any issues he always provided the support needed. His attitude towards me was always positive and helpful. I am very happy about the level of support provided.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
On a day-to-day basis, I'm using knowledge gained during the course. I have put most of the theory learned into practice but some of the knowledge I haven't used yet. I hope I will use it in the future. I feel like I learned more about the company and industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
EON is a company that organizes various events and activities. Unfortunately during my apprenticeship, there were no events because of the global pandemic. I was working from home and not able to meet my colleagues in person. EON provided support for all employees during this time via the internal portal.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EON is a European electric utility company based in Essen, Germany. It runs one of the world's largest investor-owned electric utility service providers. EON UK is 100% committed to looking after the employees. There is a good work ethic and support provided for all employees.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Talk to your manager about what you want to learn and find a course which will suit you. The application process is not complicated. In my case, I had to do additional exams for English and Maths, but I had the support provided all the way by the program provider
