Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is to plan, execute and optimise programmatic and display campaigns for Vodafone within the in house team. My apprenticeship works well amongst this as I get a better insight into how the business model works and marketing theories that help support the ideas we propose, in responses to brief.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it. The people are really nice, the learning is digestible and often interesting, and the workload is usually manageable. It's been good to network with people from other departments as well, who are on the scheme. Some of the topics are completely new which I think is motivating, learning something new.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Helped develop a lot of business and marketing knowledge through this apprenticeship, and made more informed decisions about channel budget splits, strategy and planning. I also feel like I've been forced to learn more about Vodafone as well, which has helped my overall experience of work and also to make decisions about where our marketing needs to be focused more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think its pretty well organised and structured. The only thing I would mention is that sometimes the mentor sessions aren't that well timed, with them being inbetween tasks and workshops sometimes where there isn't much to discuss. That is being worked on though and on the whole they are always useful.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
A fair amount - its understood that I can't attend meetings on days that I have my workshop, but unfortunately I do have to catch up on the work afterwards which can be a bit stressful. Also with assignments sometimes being during busy times (christmas for example) it can be a bit hectic.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A lot of support. The email responses are always very quick and helpful, and I know if this wasn't sufficient, I'd feel comfortable enough to pick up the phone to any of the training providers. This is for the Professional Academy, my mentor is [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions].
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
We do workshops that are relevant to marketing as a whole, so I guess I can make more informed decisions on budget placement etc. I would like the course to cover digital marketing in a bit more detail, but maybe that will come later down the line I would imagine.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At the moment everything is virtual because of Covid but there are socials quite frequently and my team are lucky enough to be taken out by publishers now and then, for lunches and events. As far as I'm aware there's no sports teams, but definitely a lot of professional events to go to.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They've been incredibly forward thinking during the pandemic and aren't putting any of their staff at risk which is massively appreciated. After working at difficult firms in the past, I really appreciate that my safety and wellbeing is a priority at Vodafone rather than just my work. I have a lovely team and we have achieved many successes together.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
Be willing to learn a lot, work hard, but play hard when the time comes I'm sure as well :). The application process is quite normal I would say, be prepared for lots of questions at your interview and be well researched. Also I would say networking is very key, as this industry isn't as big as you would think.
