Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an activity officer, I ensure that the activities programme is varied. I provide activities (both group and individual ones) and help residents liaise with their loved ones. I run meetings for residents, put together the newsletter and an activity programme as well as I make displays. I help residents make phone calls and respond to letters and I try to brighten their day. I organise events such as christmas plays etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the care curriculum when it comes to my programme. Interactive information can be interesting and the knowledge gained from it can be very insightful. I feel like programme is really in-depth and it covers many aspects of care.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt new skills and developed existing skills. I mostly learnt about legislation and about different aspects of care that I did not know or think about in the past. Moreover, I have also gained more understanding about how to develop in my role and what skills I needed to work on in order to better myself at my job.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe my programme is well-structured. There are different units and each month I am given a list of units I have to work on. What is expected of me is very clear.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager asks me about how I am doing with my course and whether I need any additional support. She guides me and if I have any questions, I know I can always come and ask.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive as much support from my training provider as I need. If I needed more support, I believe he would be more than happy to provide me with it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think that my qualification helps me perform better in my role. I feel more confident in myself and in what I do. The training has helped me develop and make me think more outside the box. I believe that because of it I have learnt how to listen better and how to have a different perspective on life as well as on my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I do not think there are many opportunities to take part in any extra-curricular activities at the moment due to COVID-19.

Why?
I think if somebody wants to gain more skills in a particular field, it is a good opportunity for them to learn more skills. The tutor is professional and the work load is fine.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tricuro?
If somebody was to apply to ParagonSkills, I would give them advice to plan ahead and think of their own schedule so that they can manage their time well.
