Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Visiting and inspecting various sites and properties typically in London, and reporting on different elements of these buildings. Following this, advising as to what needs to be done to rectify issues, (if any).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme. If you understand you are eager to get in the property industry, the social nature of Savills paired with the extensive knowledge of everyone around make learning and working engaging and enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes. Throughout the experience so far, I have acquired and developed many different skills. E.g. The ability to draw floor plans, use laser measures, and the ability the recognise the issues and defects of a building using prior knowledge of its construction.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very well organised and structured. It can seem you have been thrown in at the deep end initially, however, this is necessary to teach the fundamental skills quickly. Despite this, line managers understand the little experience you start with and any mistakes made were quickly rectified without judgement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Savills have many schemes to support me personally, as well as, my learning throughout my apprenticeship and beyond. Regular catch ups with apprenticeship coordinators also allow me to voice any concerns or ideas for the future.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Savills, and the training provider offer a range of support systems to ensure you maintain on track toward a steady qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification, is directly related to my role. It is readily apparent that the modules taken, directly influence my work on a daily basis. As I develop further into my career, I notice more and more how far my knowledge of the industry and processes has come.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many sports teams, fun-runs, and other social events at Savills. Despite Covid-19 putting a stop to a lot of these recently, Savills where they can, have held many online chats and informal catch ups to keep the social side of the business running.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great opportunity to gain the qualifications you need, along with vital industry experience, while being paid. Though this already sounds great, this is offered by many a company, Savills then goes above and beyond in my opinion by providing an engaging and social working environment. A great place to learn at.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
Take the steps to ensure you get the job you want. Ensure you have some background knowledge of the construction and property industry before applying and demonstrate this in your application. Once in the job, do not wait to be spoon-fed. Use initiative and take control of your own learning by asking questions. Researching answers to any questions you may have, and take part in activities. You will be pushed out of your comfort zone, embrace this as it works wonders for you (even personally) in the long run.
