Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a sous chef which means I have to work with my kitchen manager to ensure top quality food to our guests. Also training of staff to keep health and safety with food hygiene regulations to the highest level possible. Also keeping kitchen clean and excellent knowledge for the team and myself about any allergens.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have always had a passion for cooking with fresh ingredients so the course that I am participating in is fantastic. The tutors are patient understanding and very knowledgeable. Learning about the theory of what and more importantly whyyou doing something is invaluable compared to just being shown and expected to repeat

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Working with Mitchell's and butlers has helped me understand the stocktaking process in more depth. Also communicating with my colleagues has improved under the guidance of my general manager. M&bs MABLE online training is very helpful to to further learning. There is a lot of support for anyone who wishes to progress at their own pace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

From the lifetime training coaches to the Mitchell's and butlers tutors the structure is well balanced. Different people learn at different rates so there is no pressure if your struggling. The support and structure of this program allows people to progress as and when their ready. Plus getting out of the workplace 2 days a month is refreshing lol
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support is available from Mitchell's and butlers. They want their employees to learn and grow because it furthers their own business but also develops the knowledge and understanding of the employees. It is a win win situation. There is always someone available to communicate with about any business or personal issues anyone may have
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

With monthly meetings or over the phone chats each month with our lifetime trainers there is plenty of support available. Also you have an online portal with independent resources on hand if anyone has any queries. Even through the numerous lockdowns there is someone available to support you if your struggling.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Instead of just following a recipe book or specification sheet - the qualification ensures you actually know what your doing and gives you the confidence to perform at the best possible level you can achieve.forvsome of who are not confident using online tools this course helps improve my confidence on how to get around online training
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Mitchell's and butlers have things like MABsterchef. A great competition whereas you can possibly get one of your own recipe/dishes put on our menu across the brand you work in.PRIDE, team nights out using your golden tickets, team parties, socialising with your team, or even MABLE webinars are a few others.

Why?
Over the years I have worked in several different brands of Mitchell's and butlers. Crown Carveries, Vintage inns and Castle. I have found that they always push you to further your own beliefs and careers. Also this generally makes you a better human being. The sites I have worked in have always had a good management structure and this feeds down to the rest of the staff
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitchells and Butlers?
If you want to learn and better yourself then Mitchell's and butlers are a great career choice. Also you can transfer to different brands which is a great option in which you can broaden your career there are a lot of benefits as well like reccommendca friend gym discounts eating discounts accommodation discounts and pick a perk.
