Front of house apprentice, includes hosting, waiting tables, running food and making drinks on bar, ensuring guests are always kept happy and that the premises is kept clean during the shift
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it a lot. I like being able to learn new things about my role. During an apprenticeship gives me the chance to not only learn new skills, but also understand how these skills are important and relate to what I do.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The main skills I have learned and developed are how to correctly make and pour drink.
Ive also developed by customer service skills quite a lot and am now a lot more confident when dealing with guests

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very organised and structured. You have visits every 4-6 weeks, which are now mostly all remote due to covid-19 restrictions. You are told told what needs to be done before each session and what you need to work on, so you never find yourself confused as to what you need to do.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Due to different management changes in my particular pub, there hasn't been much support quite yet. The newest management does seem to be on board with helping and getting any training done that I need to progress.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider are incredibly supportive, and are always at the end of the phone or email if you have any queries for them!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It's very helpful with my role, as it gives you more developed information on why and how to do particular things, so that you are always prepared and know what you are doing.

We have MABLE, which is like an online brain gym, which includes webinars that help you meet people from other M&B pubs, and also teaches you any skills you may need.

Don't worry if you havent had much experience in this sector, M&B have a great training programme that will help you learn everything you'll need for the role.
