Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My current role is working in the Skills Development Centre learning basic mechanical and electrical skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the program so far, because it has all been brand new to me, and the future looks to be very interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Almost all the skills I have learnt are completely new to me, and the instructors teaching them have been very helpful and patient.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Overall it has been well organised, there have been a few slip-ups but that is only due to the current Coronavirus Pandemic putting a halt to certain things.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Plenty of support, I am always encouraged to ask any questions I have, and will always get swift replies. Also, the instructors have been very helpful with supporting us through the workshop phase of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We have had a good standard of support from the training provider for the course, and have been encouraged to ask any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
So far I am not very far into the qualification, but we have already been using theory learnt through the training provider in our practical work in the workshop.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Usually there would be a large variety of activities, but that is no currently an option due to the pandemic.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It has been a completely new experience, far different to anything I have done in the past, and it has all been really enjoyable. BAE Systems are very keen to keep you on board and encourage you to think about your plan for years to come, so I feel very comfortable here and hope that I can continue my career with BAE Systems.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure you include absolutely anything you can think of that would be useful in your application. I included some things about CAD work I had done in the past during my secondary school and 6th form college, and BAE Systems offered for me to start my apprenticeship with a different branch to what I had applied for, due to the fact that they work more with CAD. It is definitely worth including everything.
