Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

First year is Btec foundation and learning how to produce high quality circuits or precision work but to also learn how to use cad and how to fault find.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

During the pandemic and lock down, i wanted to go back and get to work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Ive developed my soldering and fault finding skills but i have learnt how health and safety in the work place is vital but also how to read circuit diagrams and technical drawings.
Also i have learnt how to do complex algebraic formulas.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Considering the 2020 pandemic and starting the year late it has been organised exceptionally well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We have SEM support and guidance tobhelp with our learning but also a safeguarding officer who has been vital for helping us during the pandemic and tough times.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

From all partys we get exceptional support and training plus there are opportunities to get after class support during tutorials sessions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

From the beginning to now i would say that my skills have improved to the point ibwouldnt of thought of and when performing my role it comes second nature.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

During the 2020 pandemic and lockdowns we havent had the opportunity to do social activities except for our first week doing fencing, clay pigeon shooting and rock climbing.

You will be apart of a leading organisation in engineering and if you put the work in the rewards and benefits after completing the apprenticeship are well worth the effort you put in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Its highly competitive and my advice is its all or nothing.
