Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
All aspects of property management including managing my own portfolio of single- and multi-let properties. This involves debt collection; service charge budget setting, implementation and reconciliation; lease reading/extraction; client engagement; report writing; enforcing legal obligations on tenants; and engaging with solicitors in the drafting of legal documentation (e.g. heads of terms). This is not an exhaustive list but an indication of the range of activities I undertake on a regular basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the programme very much and have the added bonus of earning money whilst I learn! I'm confident that degree apprenticeships will soon become more competitive and sought after than full-time university courses.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I commenced my apprenticeship with no prior experience in the property industry and have learned all of my knowledge from my work. I am shortly to sit my APC and feel confident that I have gained sufficient experience to become chartered.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Extremely well organised. I was amongst the first apprentices at my company but we have expanded very quickly and learned key lessons in the structure of the programme to ensure it provides the best progression for everyone coming through the apprenticeship route.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
All the support I could possibly want and more, I couldn't ask for a more supportive team structure from our central apprentice team to my own team in my office.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There is plenty of support from my apprenticeship outcomes officer at my university with regard to my APC route but the academic support from my university has been poor as they seem to be more keen on covering their own shortcomings than accepting/acting on critical feedback.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
My law module was extremely useful to provide a legal background to the industry but the remainder of the course seems to be very far removed from the reality of practising in the industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are numerous extra activities to get involved with from sporting teams, graduate events, charity involvement, networking events (both attended and run by our company).

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I cannot think of a better environment to work in or a more inclusive culture in a company. To work at a firm like Savills where the the CEO of the global PLC remembers who you are and happily engages with you about your work is very rare.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
Show you are keen and eager to learn. No one expects you to know everything at apprenticeship level with limited/no experience but you need to show that you are willing to put the work in to understand the job/industry and progress your career.
