Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently based within the Dealer Setup Team during my degree apprenticeship. This involves setting up new dealer partners with ourselves. I also then have university meetings with my mentor for my university work and also attend university 6 times a year for 4 days at a time.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy working for this company and I have been able to develop both professionally and personally. I enjoy working with other apprentices within the business and also other colleagues who have been in the business for a long time as I can learn good skills from these people also.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learned loads of skills. I have learned to become more self-aware and how my actions impact others. I have also developed team working skills, decision making, time management, leadership skills, Professionalism, taking responsibility and many more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well organised. All the blocks for university for all 3 years are planned and put in place at the start of the programme and clear expectations on when deadlines will be for each module at university.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from within the workplace. My team leader is excellent and very supportive and goes and above and beyond to give me the support that I need. I also have a university mentor which helps me from an academic perspective and this is also very helpful.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I also receive support from the university. They offer extra sessions if needed and also have a meeting every 3 months with the work-based coach to see how I am progressing towards my end point assessment.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel there are some occasions where I am able to take academic learning and apply it into the workplace. I do think this is overemphasised as some modules despite being interesting don't have a great deal of applicability to my day to day job role.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes First Response do have quarterly team nights out.. There is a 5 a side team but this is done more by individuals opposed to the company organising this.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend First Response Finance Limited to a friend?

Why?

First Response is a good company to work for and they do look after their employees well. However, there are limited opportunities for progression so I would recommend to someone looking to progress but I would if someone just wanted a comfortable job with good benefits if their main goal was not for progression within a business.
