Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Handling claims over the telephone and by email. Making claims decisions, raising payments, validating costs, appointing suppliers, dealing with complaints and guiding the policy holder through their journey.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Very interactive, get to speak with a wide variety of people and the company trusts you to do the role

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Claims handling, assertiveness, insurance market awareness and decision making

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
We were the first year to do the apprenticeship in the household department at Halifax and were never provided with a clear structure. COVID has also massively impacted on this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My team leader and Kaplan handler are both very accessible and willing to help. Exams and resources are provided and paid for.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Kaplan handler is very accessible and there are revisions sessions, mock exams and worksheets to help with the study
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
There are many aspects which have helped me further understand the role and the decisions I make on a day to day basis, this makes explaining these decisions much easier. There are also some aspects which are not necessary in the role and I feel will never be useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
My team is very social and there is a sports and social society, however I have not engaged with this mainly due to how far I live from the office and COVID.
