Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a motor claims handler. I have my own workload that is my responsibility to maintain and keep at a good service level. I interact with my team on a daily basis. Externally, I interact with brokers, third party representatives, solicitors and sometimes policyholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I quite enjoy the work I do at the moment and I think I am becoming very good at it. The team I am in has a really positive attitude and it's quite a tight-knit group which I like.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My communication skills have been developed massively in this role. I communicate with a lot of people on a daily basis so I have learnt how to communicate/get a point across more effectively than before. Another skill that has been enhanced is writing formal emails/letters, I write these every day so this skill has become natural now.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The initial training was a lot to take in but it was all knowledge that I have found useful in the role I do now. We get plenty of time to study for our exams and other work we need to do for the program. We have meetings every 6 weeks with our talent coach which gives good structure and makes sure we are keeping up with the work required.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive plenty of support from our employer. We get an hour every day to study and get work for the program done. I feel very comfortable going to my team leader/mentor/talent coach about anything I am struggling with/need help on.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My talent coach is very helpful and is always available if I need to speak with them. They always keep me in line with the work I need to be completing. We have access to a lot of learning materials which make a massive difference when it comes to taking the exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification gives me a lot of background knowledge on the insurance market which I can use and apply to my role as a claims handler. It also makes me more confident when speaking to another person, internally or externally, because I have this knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Coronavirus has obviously halted actvities/events/etc. but before coronavirus, yes there was a lot to get involved in. Just before the virus hit, we had a 5-a-side football game arranged against the RSA Mancester office which was postponed as a result of the virus.

Why?
RSA is a really positive, happy place to work and I feel extremely comfortable there, which is what you want when you're spending most of your week there. Everyone is very friendly and I'd feel comfortable talking to anyone there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Group?
Be positive, confident and just be yourself, as personality always shines through.
