Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my day to day I assist lead and co brokers in the placement of large insurance risks. This involves a lot of interaction with colleagues in the UK, overseas and outside of the company.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
As soon as I joined my team were very welcoming and the culture of Willis collaborative and supportive. Whilst I expected to be in the office the company and my team have made a conscious effort to increase morale through coffee breaks and continuing networking events. The work I am doing is very challenging and the fast pace environment allows me to develop.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
In under one year I have completed two insurance exams which contribute to my final qualification. I have also had continued support in many hours of internal training to understand the processes and follow up sessions. I have also attended external training, not solely focused on the processes but also on personal/social skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well structured, I have a line manager who supports me in my apprenticeship and workload. On the apprenticeship side I have a skills development coach who supports me in all the separate apprenticeship tasks such as CPD log and knowledge evidence ( which will enable me to complete the apprenticeship in the later stages). I also have a tutor for my studies and when requested I have been able to attend extra sessions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager provides me a lot of support by assisting me in managing my workload and attending progress catch-ups with my Skills development coach. We also have weekly catch-ups to discuss what I'm currently working on. There is also a lot of support when I have not worked on anything similar before as team members are available to provide training.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My tutor has encouraged taking time out of work for my studies so my manager has booked out one morning to complete study/apprenticeship work. Whilst it is difficult to take this time in busy periods it is always encouraged that I do.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
This qualification will help me progress in my role as it helps me gain a better understanding of insurance as a whole. throughout the first two exams a lot of the information I learned I could later see within my work. This was in terms of technical insurance knowledge and legal principles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Currently I am part of multiple networks within the company one of which is a young professionals network. In this we had a virtual networking event where we discussed numerous topics.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Willis Towers Watson is a great company to work for and the continued support is great. I also think the challenging work enables me to progress and keeps me engaged at the same time.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
The on-boarding process for me didn't take too long. If you are successful then once you join never say no to a new opportunity/meeting/training.
