I am thoroughly enjoying my time as an apprentice at BAE Systems.
Everyone is friendly and helpful and willing to help if you require it.
There is a large support network in place which makes the company culture very pleasant and appealing.
This apprenticeship far exceeds my expectations in everyway.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I will be building my skills in many aspects of aerospace engineering including, CAD, electronics, fixtures and fittings and business improvement techniques.
I will also be working towards a Bachelor of Engineering degree at college.
I am developing my communication and teamwork skills within the company as well as professionalism in the workplace. As well as this I am building on my ability to be indepent in certain situations.

There is a clear, easy to follow structure on how the scheme is structured for the learning and placements.
It is also structured in a way that if you have any problems or issues you will always know who to go to with them.

There is a large amount of support offered by the company. Any problem you have there will be someone to go to with it.
Mentors, coaches and managers are very supportive and offer useful guidance and feedback on a regular basis.
Any equipment or additional support you require can be given to you also.
Overall there is a very positive attitude by the team towards supporting us.

It is a very professional working environment where you can build and develop many skills relevant to the job including key engineering principles and communication skills within the company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
My advice for someone applying would be don't just talk about what you want to get out of the course, but also what you can offer as an individual to the company.
Also being really interested in engineering definitely helps!
